What is Respite?
At Red Roof Retreat we define respite as providing relief from the care of a loved one with special needs. Respite can come in many forms; from a weekend away to time spent at a recreation or day program.

What Respite Programs does Red Roof Retreat provide?
We provide Weekend Respite (Ages 3-18 years), Weekend Respite (Ages 18+), Adult Day Program (18+ with care options 1:1 and 1:3, Recreation Programs (Ages 5+ with care options 1:3), Summer Camp (Ages 5+ with care options 1:3)

What Services does Red Roof Retreat offer?
We offer Educational and Recreational School Trips, Day Visits for other agencies serving special needs population and Volunteer Opportunities and Post Secondary School Placements

How many families accesses Red Roof Retreat programs?
There are approximately 3500 families in the Niagara Region with children and young adults with special needs. We have over 200 families using one or more of our programs.

Is Red Roof Retreat licensed?
Yes we are licensed by the Ministry of Community and Social Services

Are you government funded?
No. Red Roof Retreat does not receive government funding.

How are you governed?
We have a 13 member volunteer Board of Directors made up of individuals with a variety of expertise.

What is the annual operating budget of Red Roof Retreat?
Red Roof Retreats annual operating budget is almost $2 Million.

How much fundraising is required?
Fundraising efforts have to raise 75% of the annual operating budget.

How does Red Roof Retreat fundraise to keep programs affordable for families?
Red Roof Retreat receives donations, grants and sponsorship's from the community as well as hosts a variety of events throughout the year. We also offer Legacy and Gift Giving Program opportunities.

How much does respite at Red Roof Retreat cost?
The cost of respite depends on the program and the level of care required for each client.

How do families hear about us and apply for respite programs?
Through word of mouth and media families learn to contact us directly. Each program has its own intake process.

Who makes up Red Roof Retreat Staff?
We have 3 full time and 1 part time administration positions and approximately 8 part time program staff. Program staff must have a background in social services or health care and are required to complete Policy and Procedure Review and Behavioural Management and Medical Administration Training.

We have over 100 volunteers volunteering in programs, on the property, at events and on the Board of Directors. To find a volunteer opportunity that best suits you please contact us.
